Education and Resources for Action
As a peace education organization, Project Peacemakers is committed to raising public awareness about the issues we work on including; children and war, nuclear abolition, violent video games, ending sanctions against Iraq, building peace through play and National Missile Defence. As part of our work we offer speakers on these topics to schools, churches, and other interested groups in our community. Please contact our office (775-8178) to book a speaker for your upcoming educational event.
Project Peacemakers has a library with numerous peace and justice resources. The books and magazines in our library are available for loan. (Browse through our Peace Library for available books and other resource)
We have also developed our own information resources which are available from our office for
purchase or loan.
Creating a Culture of Peace: A Peace Education Resource for Manitoba Teachers

This exciting new resource for middle years teachers is the result of an initiative
of Project Peacemakers, a non-profit community organisation that has been in
existence since 1983. Project Peacemakers, an affiliate of Project Ploughshares,
is dedicated to social action and public education to promote peace, non-violence
and social justice. This resource is made possible by the generous support of

Children and War Elementary School Kit. This kit provides lessons for students in grades 4-6 about the various issues affecting children living in warzones including: sanctions, refugees, child soldiers and military spending. It provides many activities for children and additional lessons on conflict resolution and being a peacebuilder. Download it here for free without the game.

Children and War Board Game
In order to return home, a child living in a warzone must collect
enough food, health care and
education to survive. People of all ages will learn about the
challenges facing children in
warzones as they attempt to return home without going to a refugee
camp. The game includes
trivia questions which provide information about current conflicts,
military spending and other
children and war facts. The game is available with trivia questions for
high school/adult level and
elementary school level. This game is no longer available from the
Project Peacemakers office, but we hope to have a downloadable version
available soon.
Children and war drama project
This play is a result of the collaborative efforts of numerous Winnipeg high school students and former child soldiers from Sierra Leone. It is educational and entertaining. Download it here and produce it for your group.
"I played with guns when I was a child, and I'm ok"
This very popular building peace through play pamphlet has been distributed to thousands of elementary school children. It encourages parents to think carefully about their choices of toys and provides hints for parents who want to eliminate violence from their children's toy boxes. Download pamphlet here
